What Is The Leapster Explorer?

The Leapster Explorer is the latest in educational company Leapfrog’s range of dedicated handheld educational games consoles recommended for ages 4-9.

Leapfrog took the best ideas from both educational games on the PC and handheld games consoles and brought the two together in the Leapster.

Parents can be sure if kids are playing with the Leapster then they are learning, not just working out their fingers on mindless games.

The Leapfrog Explorer was released in July 2010 and replaces the highly popular Leapster 2, which was a hit with parents, kids and critics, winning many toy and educational awards in its time.

The Leapster Explorer features a sharper screen, slightly larger than the old Leapster and is now able to run a lot more powerful software including 3D and Flash games.

Leapfrog are also incorporating an Leapster Explorer ebooks as well as a camera accessory to the Leapster Explorer, all for the price of $69.99, which makes it the most feature rich and cost effective Leapster model yet.

What Can You Do With A Leapster Explorer?

A Leapster Explorer is a dedicated handheld educational console. It is designed around the concept that kids learn through play and the main way that many kids enjoy playing in contemporary society is with computer games.

Leapster Explorer Games are based on popular children’s characters, films and cartoons such as Star Wars, Dora the Explorer, Madagascar and Toy Story.

There are a range of games available with more coming out each month. Some games are available to purchase from online retailers and others are available for download from Leapfrog.

Each game features an educational focus and some may be geared towards maths while others focus on reading, science, geography or another area of curriculum.

The games are age and grade based so you can choose a game that suits your child’s interests and then adjust the age requirement accordingly with in the games settings.
